Desktop spreadsheet Β· SQL + AI built in

The spreadsheet that speaks SQL β€” and reads your data back to you.

A familiar ribbon and a genuine formula engine, with a DuckDB query engine underneath so you can run real SQL over the grid. Ask an AI assistant about the sheet in front of you. XLSX and CSV round-trip cleanly. Your workbooks stay on your disk.

Request early access See what it does

SpreadsheetCook is a desktop application. Your workbooks stay on your disk, it opens without a login, and there is a real query engine under the grid β€” not a web spreadsheet pretending. When a sheet gets big enough to make other tools stall, you write a SQL query instead of a nest of formulas.

Why it's different: Excel makes you fight VLOOKUP chains for what a query does in one line. SpreadsheetCook keeps the ribbon you know but adds =SQL() over your own tables, an AI assistant, and live data functions like =PRICE and =OHLCV β€” with your workbooks staying on your disk and the AI running on RedKitten's own hardware, not a third-party cloud.

What it does

SpreadsheetCook grid with a SQL query returning results into cells

Run SQL over your own sheet

A DuckDB query engine lives under the grid. Type =SQL("SELECT ...") or use the Data panel to query your tables directly β€” joins, aggregates and window functions the big sheets need, without exporting to a database first.

AI chat panel answering a question about the data in the sheet

AI over your own data

Ask for a formula with =ASKLLM, generate code with =CODE, or open Sheet Chat to ask about the data you have open. It runs on RedKitten's own inference hardware, not a third-party cloud β€” your workbooks never touch a SaaS vendor.

SpreadsheetCook ribbon showing the Home tab

One toolbar, everything in reach

A ribbon laid out the way you already expect: Home, Insert, Formulas, Data, LLM and Templates β€” no hunting through nested menus for the thing you use every day.

XLSX and CSV that round-trip

Open and save real Excel workbooks and CSVs β€” not an import that quietly drops your formatting on the way back out. Save your own .workbench format to keep tables, queries and annotations together.

Pivots and charts, done

Build a pivot table straight onto a new sheet, and drop in bar, line, scatter or pie charts from a range β€” then export either as XLSX or PNG.

Live data in a cell

=PRICE(sym), =OHLCV(sym) and more pull live market data straight into cells. Import structure out of a document rather than retyping it. Start from a built-in template instead of an empty grid.

Built for real workbooks

Your files, localA desktop app. Workbooks live on your disk; nothing is uploaded to open one.
No account to use itInstall it and it works. No sign-in wall in front of the grid.
Opens without ceremonyCold start into a usable grid, not a splash screen and a sync check.
A columnar engine underneathDuckDB powers the query side, so the large, slow sheets that make other tools stall stay responsive.
Browser versionThe same grid running in a browser. The engine exists but is single-tenant today β€” one shared database for everyone β€” so it is not deployed and not multi-user, and will not ship until per-session isolation is done.
Accounts and saved workSigning in to save workbooks server-side. Not built; there is no user store yet.
Metered AI creditsUsage-based AI beyond what the desktop licence includes. No metering exists today.
